A surgeon’s job has traditionally been done more by men, mainly because women were discouraged from studying medicine in the past. Today, this is changing. Surgeons are responsible for diagnosing medical problems, performing operations to treat injuries or diseases, and caring for patients before and after surgery. Their work requires great precision, steady hands, and strong medical knowledge, because their decisions can directly affect a patient’s life. Surgeons also need important personal qualities such as patience, confidence, good communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Both men and women can do this job equally well, as these skills are not linked to gender but to training and dedication. Society benefits from having both male and female surgeons because patients can feel more comfortable and respected, and different perspectives can improve teamwork and patient care.
