Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating some of the most beloved cartoon characters, especially Mickey Mouse, and for building a global entertainment empire.

He was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and grew up on a farm in Missouri. As a child, he loved drawing and storytelling. He attended McKinley High School in Chicago and also took night courses at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, where he developed his artistic skills.

Walt Disney became a very successful film-maker who created many classic animated films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, and Peter Pan. He had four brothers and one sister, and later married Lillian Bounds, with whom he had two daughters.
