Opinion Essay

Nowadays, more and more young Vietnamese people celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. In my opinion, this trend is generally positive, although we should also be careful to preserve our traditional culture.

First of all, celebrating international festivals gives young people opportunities to learn about other cultures. For example, Christmas teaches the value of love and sharing, while Halloween encourages creativity through costumes and decorations. These activities also create joyful moments, helping people relax after stressful days of study or work. Moreover, such celebrations make Vietnam more connected with the world, especially in a time of globalization.

However, some people worry that young people may forget Vietnamese traditions. I believe this problem can be solved if we balance both foreign and local festivals. We should still pay special attention to Tet, Mid-Autumn Festival, or Hung Kings’ Day because these events reflect our national identity and values.

In conclusion, celebrating Christmas or Halloween is not harmful if young Vietnamese remember to respect and preserve their own culture. By combining both traditions and new experiences, we can enjoy a richer and more colorful cultural life.
