In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have started celebrating festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. While some people worry that these foreign traditions may weaken Vietnamese culture, I believe that celebrating them brings more benefits than harm.

Firstly, participating in international festivals helps young people become more open-minded and globally connected. Through activities like Halloween parties or Christmas gatherings, they learn about other cultures and traditions, which can promote cultural understanding and tolerance. This is especially important in today’s globalized world, where communication across cultures is common.

Secondly, these festivals create opportunities for joy, creativity, and social bonding. For example, dressing up for Halloween or exchanging gifts at Christmas encourages imagination and strengthens friendships. Such events also bring economic benefits, as businesses earn more from decorations, food, and entertainment.

Of course, it is important not to forget Vietnamese traditions like Tết or Mid-Autumn Festival. However, celebrating foreign festivals does not mean losing national identity. As long as young people respect their own culture, embracing new ones can make Vietnamese society more dynamic and diverse.
