The increasing popularity of global festivals like Christmas and Halloween among young Vietnamese people has sparked a debate about the influence of foreign cultures. In my opinion, this trend is overwhelmingly positive and represents a healthy form of cultural exchange rather than a threat to local traditions.

Firstly, participating in these festivals encourages cultural literacy and understanding. Young people gain exposure to different traditions, like the Western concept of giving during Christmas or the playful creativity of Halloween, which ultimately broadens their global worldview. This exposure does not imply abandoning local customs, but rather adding a layer of international awareness.

Furthermore, these modern celebrations provide enjoyable opportunities for socializing and creativity. They allow students to organize fun events, learn new crafts, and build stronger social networks. Vietnamese culture is resilient and dynamic. Embracing foreign festivals as social events, while still honoring traditional Tết and Mid-Autumn Festival, shows cultural confidence, not weakness.
