Opinion Essay

In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have started celebrating foreign festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. While some worry that this trend might harm traditional culture, I believe it brings more positive than negative effects.

Firstly, celebrating foreign festivals helps young people learn about other cultures and become more open-minded. Through activities like decorating for Christmas or wearing costumes on Halloween, they can explore new traditions and improve their understanding of the world. This cultural exchange encourages creativity and global awareness, which are important in today’s modern society.

Secondly, these celebrations also bring joy and connection. For example, students and friends often gather to organize parties or events, strengthening their relationships. Such activities make life more exciting and colorful, especially for the young generation.

Of course, it is essential to preserve Vietnamese festivals like Tet and Mid-Autumn as well. However, learning from other cultures does not mean forgetting our own. In my opinion, celebrating both local and foreign festivals is a great way to balance tradition and modernity in Vietnam.
