Nowaday, more and more young Vietnamese people celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. Some people think there is nothing wrong with this while others are worried about the influence of foreign cultures.

I believe that while there are certain concerns, the celebration of foreign festivals by young Vietnamese people is mostly positive. On the one hand, these festivals create enjoyable moments that make life more colorful. Preparing decorations for Christmas or dressing up for Halloween gives young people a break from their busy studies and reduces stress. They also become more confident when joining in group activities such as parties or performances. On the other hand, celebrating international festivals can sometimes make young people neglect traditional ones such as Tet Trung Thu or Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day. If this happens, our cultural identity may gradually weaken. Therefore, it is important to maintain a balance between appreciating Vietnamese traditions and enjoying foreign celebrations.

In conclusion, I support young people joining in festivals like Christmas and Halloween, but they should also respect and preserve the unique cultural values of Vietnam.
