Tet holiday, also known as Lunar New Year, is a special time of the year in Vietnam. It is a time for family, friends, and loved ones to come together and celebrate. People spend weeks preparing for Tet, cleaning and decorating their homes, cooking traditional dishes, and buying gifts for their loved ones. On the eve of Tet, families gather for a festive meal where they eat traditional foods such as banh chung (sticky rice cake) and xoi gac (glutinous rice with red sticky rice). As midnight approaches, people light firecrackers and watch fireworks to welcome the New Year. The first day of the New Year is a time for visiting relatives and friends, giving and receiving lucky money, and wishing each other a happy and prosperous year ahead. It is also common for people to visit pagodas and temples to pray for good luck and blessings in the coming year. Throughout the holiday, the air is filled with excitement and joy as people dress in their finest clothes, exchange gifts, and enjoy festive activities such as lion dances and games. Tet is truly a special time in Vietnam, a time when people come together to celebrate, cherish their traditions, and look forward to a new beginning.
