Mount Everest, located on the border between Nepal and China in the Himalayas, is the highest point on Earth, towering at 8,848 meters above sea level. Known as "Sagarmatha" in Nepalese and "Chomolungma" in Tibetan, Everest holds sacred significance to the locals. Around 3,000 people have reached its summit, with Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay from Nepal being the first to do so in 1953. The best time to visit is from April to early June or September to November when weather conditions are most favorable. To reach the mountain, visitors fly to Kathmandu and trek to Everest Base Camp, a journey of about 14 days with acclimatization stops along the way.
