Mount Everest is a majestic natural wonder located in the Himalayas, on the border between Nepal and China. Standing at 8,848 meters above sea level, it is the highest point on Earth. To the locals, the mountain is sacred; it is known as "Sagarmatha" in Nepalese and "Chomolungma" in Tibetan. Since Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first reached the summit in 1953, around 3,000 people have accomplished this feat. The best times to visit are from April to early June or September to November. To start the journey, visitors fly to Kathmandu and then Lukla. From there, it takes about 14 days of hiking to reach the famous Everest Base Camp.
