Nowadays, more and more young Vietnamese people celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. While some people believe this trend may negatively affect traditional culture, I personally think it brings more benefits than drawbacks.
Firstly, celebrating foreign festivals helps young people broaden their cultural knowledge and become more open-minded. For instance, Christmas teaches the values of love, sharing, and kindness, while Halloween allows people to express creativity through costumes and decorations. These celebrations also give young people chances to relax, have fun, and strengthen social connections, especially among students and friends.
However, some people are worried that the increasing popularity of foreign festivals might make traditional Vietnamese celebrations less important. Many young people pay more attention to Halloween parties than to traditional events such as Tết Trung Thu or Lễ Hội Đền Hùng. If this continues, there is a risk that young generations may gradually forget their cultural roots.
In my opinion, it is not necessary to reject foreign festivals, but we should keep a balance between modern and traditional culture. Young people can enjoy Christmas or Halloween while still respecting and preserving Vietnamese festivals. This combination makes our culture more diverse and interesting.
In conclusion, celebrating international festivals has both positive and negative sides. As long as young people maintain pride in their traditions, learning from other cultures will only enrich Vietnam’s cultural identity.
