In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have enthusiastically celebrated festivals like Christmas and Halloween. Some people welcome this trend, while others worry about the impact of foreign cultures on Vietnamese traditions. In my opinion, celebrating these international festivals is a positive phenomenon if done wisely. First, these celebrations provide young people with opportunities to relax, have fun, and connect with friends. For example, Halloween encourages creativity through costumes, while Christmas brings a warm, festive atmosphere that strengthens bonds among family and peers. Such experiences make life more joyful and meaningful. Second, participating in global cultural events helps young people become more open-minded. It allows them to learn about other countries’ customs, improve their foreign language skills, and integrate better into the international community. Of course, we should not neglect traditional Vietnamese festivals like Tết or Mid-Autumn. The key is balance: embracing global culture while preserving our own identity. In conclusion, celebrating foreign festivals is not harmful. It enriches cultural life as long as young people respect and maintain Vietnamese traditions.
