In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have started celebrating festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. While some people think this trend is harmless, others worry that foreign cultures may weaken Vietnamese traditions. In my opinion, celebrating these festivals can be positive if we know how to balance them with our own customs.
Firstly, festivals like Christmas and Halloween bring joy and excitement, especially for young people. They create opportunities for friends and families to gather, exchange gifts, and enjoy new experiences. These events also allow Vietnamese youth to learn more about international cultures, which is important in today’s globalized world.
Secondly, celebrating foreign festivals does not mean we will forget our own traditions. Vietnamese people still value and preserve important celebrations such as Tet, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Hung Kings’ Temple Festival. In fact, the coexistence of both local and foreign festivals can enrich cultural life.
In conclusion, the influence of foreign festivals should not be seen as a threat. As long as young people respect and maintain Vietnamese traditions, celebrating events like Christmas and Halloween can make life more colorful and meaningful.
