WALT DISNEY – THE FATHER OF MICKEY MOUSE

Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating Mickey Mouse and building one of the greatest entertainment empires in history.

Childhood and education

He was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. As a child, Disney loved drawing and painting. He attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes. Later, he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and also worked as a commercial illustrator.

Achievements

He was a very successful film-maker, who created the beloved character Mickey Mouse in 1928. Apart from making films, he was also famous for building Disneyland, the first-ever theme park of its kind. His studio produced many classic animated films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. He received 22 Academy Awards during his lifetime—more than any other individual in history.

Family

He had four brothers and one sister. He married Lillian Bounds in 1925, and they had two daughters, Diane and Sharon.

Death and the continued success of The Walt Disney Studios

He died in 1966 in Los Angeles. Today, The Walt Disney Company continues to be one of the biggest and most successful entertainment companies in the world.
