Vietnam is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, especially typhoons, floods, and landslides due to its long coastline and tropical climate. Each year, several storms from the East Sea hit the country, bringing heavy rain and strong winds that damage homes, crops, and infrastructure. In central regions, flooding is particularly severe, often forcing thousands of people to evacuate. Climate change has made these disasters more intense and unpredictable, increasing risks for local communities. The government and citizens have worked to improve early warning systems and disaster preparedness, but challenges remain in reducing long-term impacts and protecting vulnerable areas.
