Mr. Kim Dong's real name is Nong Van Den, a Nung ethnic person, born in 1929 in Na Ma Village, Xuan Hoa Commune, Ha Quang District, Cao Bang Province. His father was captured by the French colonialists and died. Kim Dong joined the revolution as a liaison and was one of the first 5 members of the team. During a liaison trip in the middle of the road when he encountered an enemy ambush, Kim Dong quickly lured the enemy into opening fire at him. Thanks to that alarming gunshot, comrades and officers nearby quickly escaped to the forest. Kim Dong heroically sacrificed himself at a location near Lenin stream. That day was February 15, 1943, he had just turned 14 years old. He was awarded the title "Hero of the Armed Forces" by our state.

The famous historical person I would like to talk about is General Vo Nguyen Giap. He is well-known in Vietnam because of his great historic contribution as a military commander. His greatest achievement would be to defeat France at the battle of Dien Bien Phu. This was a big military event, in which he used his skills and talents to transform a small group of Vietnamese soldiers into a well-organized troop to fight against the French army. I respect this man because he is a role model of courage and determination.
