The line graph shows population trends in Viet Nam from 1960 to 2020. Overall, the urban population declined steadily, while the rural population increased during this period. In 1960, most Vietnamese people 85 per cent lived in urban areas, while only 15 per cent resided in rural areas. However, from 1960 to 1980, the urban population decreased slightly to 81 per cent, while the rural population increased slightly to 19 per cent. From 1990, the population living in urban areas continued to fall to 70 per cent in 2010 and was drop to 63 per cent in 2020, while the population lived in rural areas continued to increase to 30 per cent in 2010 and was increase to 37 per cent in 2020. By contrast, the urban population fell throughout the same period. In 1960, the percentage of urban population was just around 85 per cent. In 1980, it went down slowly to 81 per cent.Fron 1990, fell to 80 per cent to 70 per cent in 2010. The proportion fell steadily and 2020 it stood at 63 per cent.
