WALT DISNEY – THE FATHER OF MICKEY MOUSE

Walt Disney is one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema and entertainment, famous around the world for creating beloved cartoon characters, groundbreaking films, and magical theme parks.

He was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, as the fourth of five children. From a young age, Disney showed a passion for drawing and painting. He studied at Benton Grammar School in Kansas City and soon began selling his sketches to neighbors. At the age of 16, he left school to follow his artistic dreams and briefly volunteered as an ambulance driver during World War I before starting his career in animation.

Disney became a legendary filmmaker and innovator. He created the iconic character Mickey Mouse and other favorites such as Donald Duck and Goofy. His studio produced timeless animated classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Fantasia. Beyond films, he revolutionized family entertainment by opening Disneyland—the world’s first-ever theme park—and inspiring the creation of Disney World.

Throughout his career, Walt Disney achieved a record-breaking number of awards: 26 Academy Awards (Oscars), 3 Golden Globes, and 1 Emmy Award. He married Lillian Bounds in 1923, and together they had two daughters, Diane (biological) and Sharon (adopted).

Walt Disney passed away on December 15, 1966, due to lung cancer. However, his legacy continues to live on. The Walt Disney Studios expanded worldwide, creating both animated and live-action films, while Disneyland and Disney World became symbols of imagination and joy. To this day, Disney’s life and work inspire generations to dream big, believe in magic, and never stop creating.
