In recent years, many young Vietnamese people have enthusiastically celebrated foreign festivals like Christmas and Halloween. While some worry that this trend could erode traditional culture, I believe there is nothing wrong with young people enjoying these celebrations.
Firstly, participating in global festivals allows Vietnamese youth to learn about other cultures and become more open-minded. In an increasingly connected world, cultural exchange is inevitable and even beneficial. Celebrating events like Christmas and Halloween can foster creativity, especially among young people who enjoy dressing up or decorating their homes.
Secondly, embracing foreign festivals does not mean abandoning Vietnamese traditions. Many young people still celebrate Tet, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and other local holidays with pride. In fact, exposure to global cultures can inspire people to value and preserve their own heritage more consciously.
In conclusion, celebrating foreign festivals like Christmas and Halloween should not be seen as a threat but as a form of cultural enrichment. As long as young people continue to respect and honor their own traditions, there is no harm in enjoying festivals from around the world.
