The line graph shows population trends in Viet Nam from 1960 to 2020. Overall, the urban population exhibited a downward trend while the opposite tendency was true for the rural population.
Analyzing the chart in detail, in 1960, most Vietnamese people lived in urban areas, accounted for 85%. However, the percentage of the rural population decreased slightly by 4% over the 20-year period. Moreover, the figrure had a modest decline by 1% in 1990 before plummeting to 63% in 2020.
By contrast, the rural population rose throughout the same period. In 1960, only 15% of the population lived in rural areas. After two decades, this data increased gradually to reach 19% in 1980. Futhermore, the proportion of the rural population surged from 20% to 37% between 1990 and 2020.
