Walt Disney is famous around the world for creating some of the most beloved animated characters and stories, and his most notable creation was Mickey Mouse.
CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION.
His full name is Walter Elias Disney.
He was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and he was the fourth son of Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney.
He attended several schools but soon dropped out to join the Red Cross during World War I.
ACHIEVEMENTS
He was a very successful film-maker, who created Mickey Mouse and produced Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated film, which changed the world of cinema.
Apart from making films, he was also famous for founding Disneyland, the first modern theme park.
FAMILY
He had three brothers and a sister.
In 1925, he married Lillian Bounds, and they had two daughters, one of whom was adopted.
DEATH AND THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF THE WALT DISNEY STUDIOS
Walt Disney was a heavy smoker for most of his life, and he was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 1966.
He died on December 15, 1966, at the age of 65, just 10 days after his birthday. After his death, Roy O. Disney took over leadership and completed Walt Disney World in Florida.
Later, the studio continued producing successful animated films, such as The Aristocats (1970), Robin Hood (1973), Beauty and the Beast (1991), and many more.
Today, the Walt Disney Company has grown into a global entertainment empire, fulfilling Walt's vision far beyond his lifetime.
