Overall, urban population experienced a downward trend while rural population witnessed an upward trend throughout the time period.

Looking at the graph more closely, we can see that in 1960, Vietnam's population trend were mostly from urban areas. Despite the large number, the figure decreased slightly by 5%. Then went down gradually from 80% to 63%.

By contrast, the percentage of rural population rose throughout the same period. The figure started off in 1960 at just only 15% and increased by 5% in the next 30 years. Then between 1990 and 2020, the number of percentage went up significantly from 20% to 37%.
