Nowadays, more and more young Vietnamese people celebrate festivals such as Christmas and Halloween. In my opinion, this trend is not a problem as long as it is balanced with respect for Vietnamese traditions.
Celebrating foreign festivals can be a fun and educational experience. It allows young people to learn about other cultures, practice foreign languages like English, and connect with global communities. For example, Halloween encourages creativity through costumes and games, while Christmas promotes values like sharing and kindness.
However, it is important that young people do not forget their own cultural heritage. Traditional festivals such as Tet, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day carry deep historical and emotional meaning. These events help strengthen family bonds and national identity.
In conclusion, embracing foreign festivals is part of cultural exchange in a globalized world. But young Vietnamese should also take pride in and preserve their own traditions. A healthy balance between global and local culture will enrich their lives and help them become more open-minded and culturally aware.
