WALT DISNEY – THE FATHER OF MICKEY MOUSE Walt Disney is famous around the world as the creator of Mickey Mouse and a pioneer of animated films. His imagination and creativity brought joy to millions and changed the entertainment industry forever. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He grew up in a large family and developed a love for drawing at an early age. He attended McKinley High School, where he studied art, and later took night classes at the Chicago Art Institute. He was a very successful film-maker who created Mickey Mouse in 1928, followed by Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. His film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) was the first full-length animated feature and became a huge success. Apart from making films, he was also famous for building Disneyland in 1955, a theme park that became “the happiest place on Earth.” Walt Disney had three brothers and one sister, and later raised two daughters with his wife, Lillian. He died on December 15, 1966, but The Walt Disney Studios continues to thrive, producing films, shows, and parks that inspire children and adults around the globe.
