The Ede have long lived in the Tay Nguyen or high plateau region of central Vietnam. The Ede’s food crop is rice. The most numerous animals and poultry raised on the family farm are pigs, buffaloes, and chickens.

Ede group is well-known for making perfect “Ruou can” - fermented alcohol drunk in a bamboo tube. Ruou can is made from steamed sticky rice.
