Vietnam is a country that has thousands of years of history. Like many other countries in the world, Vietnam has a culture of its own identity that carries the most typical is the Lunar New Year. It is these features that make manners, shape and identity of the people in Vietnam.

Lunar New Year is the most important occasion in Vietnam. Lunar New Year, according to the Vietnamese called Tet Nguyen Dan. "Nguyen" is to start, "Dan" is a new day. "Tet Nguyen Dan" is to start a new year, to welcome Spring with everything in its newest appearance. A new year comes with goodluck and in the mean time, all of the badluck will be gone, together with the passed year. "Tet Ta" (Lunar new year) is affected by Chinese Lunar New Year and East Asia Traditional Circle so that "Tet Ta" comes after New Years Eve. According to the old rule: 3 even years/a month of the Lunar Calendar, so the first day of the year is never before Jan 21st or after Feb 19th. Normally, this day will come from about the end of Jan to mid of Feb. The Lunar New Year lasts for 7-8 days of the passed year and 7 days of the new year.

According to East Asian culture and history of China, the origin of Lunar New Year from Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors and change from time to time. According to folk beliefs, the New Year started from the concept "Thankfully the rain to sunshine", as well as originating from "tiet" (weather) upon under the operation of the universe, expressed in the cycle times the Spring - Summer - Fall - Winter, which, with a very special meaning for an agricultural country like Vietnam. Farmers for this is the occasion to commemorate the gods are related to agricultural land as the god of rain, thunder god, the god of water ... Farmers do not forget to thank the animals which help them farm work like cattle, poultry and they also thank others food crops, food to feed them.

Arrangements the altar of Vietnamese families usually have an altar ancestors, grandparents. The decoration and altar arrangements vary according to each house. However, on the altar every home always display two cane on either side as to the instrument for carrying on with the grandchildren and leading spirits from the sky on the lower boundary. In Vietnam, there are many meaningful and long-standing customs. As a Vietnamese citizen, I am extremely proud of our custom called "asking for handwriting", which is one of Vietnamese nice cultural traits and worthy to be adopted by other countries. Firstly, the custom shows desires or particular concepts and personal identities of people who want pictures of handwriting in the first days of a lunar new year. No difference between the rich and the poor, the old and the young, the local and the foreign is made in this customs. For example, the middle-aged asks for the handwriting of "Soul" or "Patience", the youth needs "Fame", "Love", "Loyalty", "Faithfulness" or "Will". A present for parents is "Peace" or "Safeness", one for the old is "Longevity". In addition, these words are often written in papers of red, pink or yellow colors, which symbolize luck. Secondly, the custom dignifies Vietnamese fondness of learning. The scholars, who give pictures of handwriting, always explain the far-reaching significance of each word written and the inquirers largely seem excited about this. Besides, many scholars are very young. Despite this, a lot of parents choose them as writers because they hope their children can learn from the youth's studiousness. In conclusion, the sincerity of both inquirers and givers of handwriting helps this custom be preserved with spiritual senses. Our foreign friends might apply it to their countries so as to remind them to love their mother languages and promote national fondness of learning.

In our country, there are quite lots of different festivals every years. However, I think Tet festival is the most typical festival for most Vietnamese people. Though we can live or work far from our family, we still try to get together at Tet. Tet festival often occurs in late January or February.

It is a good chance for us to have days off and have time to visit relatives or friends for giving good luck and the best wishes to each other. For some people who are rich, they can go on a trip somewhere in Viet Nam or in foreign countries to enjoy Tet festival

i like country life. because people in the countryside are more friendly than those who live in city

in the countryside, the enviroment is very fresh and it have many trees. my mind is better: not busy, peaceful.

many people say that: " the country life is very boring!" but i don't think so. i think although the countryside doesn't have many means of the entertainment but we can play traditionnal games..

in the city, people always want to work and work, they want to have much money. so, sometimes they forget many interesting things in their life.

in the countryside, you can become another one : you are better, happier anh care of everybody. here, people are a big family, if you are sad, they are sad with you. if you smile, they smile with you

only thing i want to say " i love country life and my Hanam province, forever"

haha
