Lunar New Year Festival often falls between late January and early February; it is among the most important holidays in Vietnam. Officially, the festival includes the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day in Lunar Calendar; however, Vietnamese people often spend nearly a month celebrating this special event. Tet Holiday gets its beginning marked with the first day in the Lunar Year; however, its preparation starts long before that. The 23rd day of the last Lunar month is East Day—a ritual worshiping Kitchen Gods (Tao Cong). It thought that each year on this day, these Gods go to heaven to tell Jade Emperor about all activities of households on earth. On New Year’s Eve, they return home to continue their duties as taking care of families. On New Year’s Day, the first ones who come to visit households—called first-foot—are very important and hence need to be well chosen, as they believed to hold in their hands the entire luck of the family in New Year (Tan Nien). After that, till the third day or even the fourth day of Tet, individuals meet relatives, friends, and colleagues, wishing them all kinds of good things happiness, health, and success.

[Tết Nguyên Đán thường rơi vào khoảng cuối tháng Giêng đến đầu tháng Hai; nó là một trong những ngày lễ quan trọng nhất ở Việt Nam. Về mặt chính thức, lễ hội bao gồm các ngày 1, 2, 3 Âm lịch; tuy nhiên, người dân Việt Nam thường dành gần một tháng để kỷ niệm sự kiện đặc biệt này. Ngày Tết bắt đầu được đánh dấu bằng ngày đầu tiên của năm Âm lịch; tuy nhiên, sự chuẩn bị của nó bắt đầu từ rất lâu trước đó. Ngày 23 tháng Giêng âm lịch là ngày Đông - nghi lễ cúng Táo quân (Táo Công). My parents often say that my room is the messiest place in the house, but it is also my favorite spot. I do not have too many personal belongings, almost everything in the room is bought by my parents and I always feel satisfied about them. The walls in the room were painted a bright white color, and my mother always complains and makes me clean whenever there was dirt or stain on them. In the middle of the room was a single bed with light blue sheet, above the wall behind the bed was a large poster of the movie Star Wars - my favorite movie. Next to the door is the study table and also where I put the computer, on the shelf there are a lot of science fiction films as well as video game discs beside all of my textbooks. There are also a number of aircraft and car models on my desk since I have a hobby of collecting models. In the corner of the room is a small wardrobe, I do not have too much clothes so that is where I put my backpack, bags as well as many other things. Next to the wardrobe is the bathroom, and I feel that putting the bathroom in the room is a smart decision. I do not have a mirror in my room because I have no need to look at myself, and I choose to hang the posters of my favorite movies on every empty space on the wall instead of a mirror. Although the room seems simple and not always in a neat condition, it is still the place I was looking forward to returning after a long and tired day.

I have my own room since I was in 6th grade, and I would love to return to my room after a long and tired day. At first my parents decorated my room in a very simple way; they painted the walls in a clean color of white and did not place much furniture in the room. A few years later when I was a little older, I started to pay more attention to it, and now it has become a place which has a lot of my personal signs. I paint the walls in light pink, and I hang some family photos so the walls are not too empty. The monotonous bed was renewed by me; I replaced the entire bed with a new outfit that featured my favorite cartoon characters such as Sailor Moon, Doraemon and Totoro. My bed is not too wide, but I still make room for a lot of stuffed animals and pillows. They are all my best friends, and I will not be able to sleep if one of them is not present. Next to the bed is a tall pink wardrobe, there is a mirror on the front door so I can look at myself every time I get dress. In the corner of the room is a pretty desk which my dad made for me. It is white, and it also has the bookcase as well as some drawers with lockers so that I can comfortably store my personal belongings. In addition to the wooden chair which I usually use to study, there are also several small couches in the room for me to seat on while reading books or listening to music. There are also a lot of nonsense things in my room, but basically this room has everything I need. This room is my own secret cave, and I will always preserve it in the best condition.

Tôi có căn phòng của riêng mình kể từ khi tôi vào lớp 6, và tôi rất thích được trở về phòng sau một ngày dài mệt mỏi. Lúc đầu bố mẹ trang trí căn phòng tôi rất đơn giản, họ sơn tường màu trắng sạch sẽ và không để nhiều đồ đạc trong phòng. Một vài năm sau khi tôi đã lớn hơn một chút, tôi bắt đầu quan tâm đến nó hơn, và bây giờ nó đã trở thành nơi mang nhiều dấu ấn của các nhân tôi. Tôi sơn lại các bức tường bằng màu hồng nhạt, và tôi treo một vài bức ảnh gia đình để bức tường không quá trống trải. Chiếc giường đơn điệu cũng được tôi đổi mới, tôi thay toàn bộ ra trải giường bằng một bộ ra mới có in hình các nhân vật hoạt hình yêu thích của tôi như Thuỷ thủ mặt trăng, Đôrêmon và Totoro. Chiếc giường của tôi không quá rộng, nhưng tôi vẫn dành chỗ cho rất nhiều các con thú nhồi bông và gối. Chúng đều là những người bạn thân thiết của tôi, và tôi sẽ không thể ngủ được nếu một trong số chúng không có mặt. Kế bên giường ngủ là một chiếc tủ quần áo cao cũng màu hồng, trên cửa tủ còn có một chiếc gương để tôi có thể ngắm nghía mình mỗi khi thay đồ Trong góc phòng là chiếc bàn học xinh xắn mà bố tôi đã đóng cho tôi. Nó có màu trắng, kệ sách và một vài ngăn kéo có khoá để tôi có thể thoải mái cất giữ những vật dụng cá nhân của mình. Ngoài chiếc ghế gỗ được sử dụng để tôi ngồi học, trong phòng còn có một vài chiếc ghế sô pha nhỏ êm ái để tôi ngồi đọc sách hoặc nghe nhạc. Còn rất nhiều đồ linh khác ở trong phòng, nhưng cơ bản là căn phòng này có tất cả mọi thứ tôi cần. Căn phòng này như một hang động bí mật của riêng tôi, và tôi sẽ luôn bảo quản nó trong tình trạng tốt nhất.

Everyday morning, I get up at 5:30. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I usually have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. I go to work by motorbike and be there at about 7:15 a.m. It takes me about 15 minutes from my house to get to my school.  I usually start my work at 7:30 a.m. I stop at 11:45 a.m for my lunch in my school office. In the afternoon, I finish my work at 5:30 p.m, then I go home. I always spend my time on cooking dinner for my small family and we usually have dinner at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, we often watch TV and play with our son. After that, I always prepare my lessons plan and go to bed at 11:00 pm. On weekends, I usually go out with my family or friends.

Every morning, I often get up at 5:30. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I usually have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. I go to school by bike and be there at about 7:15 a.m. In 11:30 p.m, I usually have lunch in canteen. In the afternoon,go back home at 5:30 p.m. I always spend my time on help my mom cooking dinner and we usually have dinner at 7:30 p.m. After dinner, we often watch TV together and sometime I do my homework. After that, I always go to bed at 10:00 pm. On weekends, I usually go out with my family or friends.
