I live in Ho Chi Minh City, and Tet holiday in the city is very bustling occasion. Within a month before the Lunar New Year, the streets are very crowded, many people go out to do shopping and enjoy the holiday scenery. My parents are busy cleaning the house, and I am busy thinking about what to wear and where to go. Right after we have a break from school, my friends and I spend most of the time on Nguyen Hue Flower Street to take pictures. However, Nguyen Hue Street is not the only beautiful place, almost everywhere in the main streets are wonderful for people to have great pictures. They are beautifully decorated with bright lights, and the apricot blossom - the symbol of New Year's Day can be found everywhere. On New Year's Eve, my family and I watch fireworks from Sai Gon Bridge; we have to go there before nine o’clock to get a good spot. Early in the first morning of the year, we go to the pagoda to pray for peace and health, and then I accompany my parents to visit my grandparents and relatives. Tet is my favorite holiday because it is an occasion to enjoy the festive atmosphere, delicious food, and receive lucky money. I wish that Tet could last for a month.

Tet is the biggest traditional festival in Vietnam. This is an opportunity for people to enjoy a happy and relaxing period of time with their family and friends. There are some differences between Tet in the North and the South of Vietnam. In the North, the traditional food of Tet is Chung cake - a rectangular sky rice cake with meat, which is wrapped in phrynium. People usually buy the cakes with some cherry blossom branches as a symbol of Tet to decorate their houses. In the South, people consider apricots and Tet cakes are the symbols of Tet. Tet cake is also made from sky rice, and the inside can be sweet beans, bananas, or even meat. On New Year’s Eve, most families gather together to have a warm dinner and a traditional ritual in order to commemorate our ancestors. On the first day of New Year, youngsters will give their best greetings to oldsters and receive lucky money. In the rest time of Tet, people can go to pagodas to pray for good things, peace, and health. Tet is an important occasion for families and friends to be together after a year of hard work, and it can motivate people to try harder in the next year.

What do you do on Tet

Khi những cơn mưa phùn xuất hiện, khi cái khí lạnh buốt căm căm của mùa đông không còn hiện hữu đậm nữa, ấy là khi xuân về. Xuân về, trăm hoa khoe sắc tỏa hương, cây cối đâm chồi nảy lộc, ai ai cũng thích. Nhưng em yêu nhất là ngày Tết quê mình.

Ngày Tết ở quê em vô cùng nhộn nhịp và đông vui. Người người nhà nhà từ trước hôm giao thừa gần 1 tuần đã bắt đầu dọn dẹp nhà cửa. Nhà ai cũng rộn rã tiếng nói, tiếng í ới gọi nhau. Nhà này sang mượn tạm nhà kia cái xẻng, nhà kia sang mượn tạm cái xô, không khí vui vẻ ngập tràn muôn nơi. Sau ngày dọn dẹp đầy vất vả ấy chính là khâu mua sắm chuẩn bị đồ Tết. Khu chợ bỗng tấp nập hẳn lên. Nào là quần áo mới, giày mới, hoa quả… Trẻ con cùng người nhà đi chợ, ríu rít chỉ trỏ những thứ bắt mắt. Ngày Tết chuộng nhất là màu đỏ, bởi vậy cả khu chợ như được sắc đỏ thắm bao bọc, tượng trưng cho may mắn. Những trái quả tươi được dùng để bày biện mâm ngũ quả, những bông hoa rực rỡ đủ màu sắc khác nhau với ý nghĩa mang tới tài lộc và hạnh phúc, mỗi thứ đều có đủ.

Đáng mong chờ nhất chính là những ngày đầu của năm mới. Đêm giao thừa em luôn thức cùng gia đình, cùng mẹ chuẩn bị đồ để lên bàn thờ chờ bố thắp hương. Đúng lúc 12 giờ, khi tiếng pháo hoa rộn rã khắp trời cao, khi ấy là thời khắc một năm cũ đã qua đi, một năm mới đã bắt đầu, mùi hương trầm lan tỏa khắp muôn nơi. Tiếng chúc mừng vui vẻ vang lên khắp ngõ xóm. Người người kéo đến nhà nhau chúc mừng năm mới an khang. Sáng hôm sau – buổi sáng đầu tiên của một năm, các nhà mang theo quà cáp đến thăm hỏi họ hàng gần xa, trẻ em được diện những bộ quần áo mới. Cả không gian tràn ngập sắc màu và niềm vui.

Em rất yêu ngày Tết quê em, vui vẻ, bình dị và gần gũi, tràn ngập yêu thương. Em mong điều này sẽ luôn còn mãi nơi quê nhà thân yêu.

Ôi ! Mùa xuân đã về trên quê hương tôi. Những cành hoa mai bắt đầu tung cánh hé nhụy mỉm cười trong nắng sớm. Hoa năm cánh nhỏ vàng tươi, xinh xắn, khúc khuỷu. Nếu được ánh nắng chiếu vào thì càng thêm rực rỡ hơn. Chỉ một cơn gió thoảng qua thôi cũng đã làm cho cánh hoa mong manh nhẹ nhàng bay theo gió rơi xuống đất. Mùa xuân đẹp quá, đẹp quá đi !

Trong một năm thì em thích nhất là những ngày Tết. Bởi những ngày ấy, quê hương em khoác lên mình tấm áo mới thật tuyệt vời. Khắp đường phố đã được dọn dẹp và trang trí lộng lẫy để mừng Tết đến. Những dải đèn lấp lánh, những băng rôn với khẩu hiệu chào mừng năm mới được treo ở khắp nơi. Trên các cửa hàng, quán xá là những tấm biển hiệu rực rỡ nhân dịp cuối năm. Về nhà, đâu đâu cũng là không khí đoàn tụ ấm áp, khi những người con người cháu đi xa cả năm nay đã trở về. Tiếng cười nói hân hoan vang khắp từ đầu làng đến cuối xóm. Tiếng nhạc xuân xập xình từ đâu đó vọng lại, năm nào cũng nghe mà chẳng thấy chán. Thoảng trong không khí là mùi nén hương thơm, mùi bánh chưng được luộc chín, mùi nấu cỗ của mọi nhà… Người người đi lại trên đường đều thảnh thơi và vui vẻ. Gặp ai cũng mỉm cười và dành cho nhau những lời chúc may mắn nhất. Đám trẻ con thì xúng xính áo quần mới, tay cầm bao lì xì, tay cầm bánh kẹo chạy đi chơi suốt cả ngày. Còn người lớn thì túm lại bên chén trà để tâm sự về một năm đã qua. Đó chính là ngày Tết ở quê hương em đó. Tuy giản dị nhưng ấm cúng và hạnh phúc vô cùng.
