a. Với động từ "to be"

Động từ "to be" có ba dạng: am, is, are.

• Câu khẳng định (+):
  Ví dụ:

  • We / You / They / Danh từ số nhiều + are + ...
• • I am a student.
  • He is very kind.
  • They are at home.
• Câu phủ định (-):
  Ví dụ:

  • He / She / It / Danh từ số ít + is not (isn't) + ...
  • We / You / They / Danh từ số nhiều + are not (aren't) + ...
• • I am not a doctor.
  • She isn't my sister.
  • You aren't happy.

b. Với động từ thường

• Câu khẳng định (+):
  Ví dụ:
• • I / We / You / They / Danh từ số nhiều + động từ nguyên mẫu (V)
  • He / She / It / Danh từ số ít + động từ thêm "s" hoặc "es" (V-s/es)
• • I work in a hospital.
  • She studies English every day.
