Hà Nội is advancing with plans for the Red River Landscape Boulevard project, a large-scale urban development that spans 11,000 hectares and stretches over 40km along the Red River. The project, (1) _______, will reshape the city's skyline and green spaces. This proposal, one of five main components of the city's master plan, is being finalized by the Department of Construction (2) _______. If the plan is approved, it will impact approximately 40,000 residents across 16 communes and wards within Ring Road 4. The project's estimated cost is over VNĐ400 trillion (about US$15 billion).

Recent reports indicate that the U.S. job market in 2024 and early 2025 was weaker than anticipated, with fewer jobs added than originally reported, raising concerns about the overall economic outlook.

2. In a job market with few new opportunities and limited chances for promotion, “job hugging” has become more widespread. Stacy DeCesaro, a managing consultant at Korn Ferry, notes that numerous employees are remaining in their current positions, prioritizing stability following the disruptions of the pandemic and ongoing layoffs. A report from July 2025 revealed that most employees plan to remain in their jobs for at least six more months, reflecting a trend of “quiet quitting” and “quiet vacationing,” where people stay but are less motivated.

3. However, job hugging is not limited to workers who are simply trying to keep their jobs. DeCesaro explains that top performers are also hesitant to leave their current positions, even if they have outgrown their roles. This reluctance to move on, driven by market fear, leaves many people "sitting in the wrong seat" in their careers, unable to advance or take on new challenges.

4. This situation can be detrimental to both employees and employers. As The Wall Street Journal notes, ambitious workers hoping for promotions may be stuck waiting for co-workers who are unwilling to move on. Additionally, new graduates may struggle to find positions. On the other hand, some see it as an opportunity, as companies can focus on developing existing talent and creating more internal career paths.

1. Hanoi has recorded early positive progress in its efforts to shift toward greener transportation, showing the city's strong commitment and clear strategy for sustainable development. On May 28, the municipal People's Committee introduced Plan No. 149/KH-UBND to carry out a program aimed at building a public transport system that uses electric and green-energy buses. [I] This plan marks an important step toward reducing pollution and improving the city's environmental quality.

2. From 2025 to 2026, Hanoi will complete mechanisms and policies that support businesses in transitioning to green vehicles. During this period, the city will also expand its network of electric and green-energy buses and continue building additional charging stations. [II] The target is for green buses to account for 10% of the fleet in 2025 and approximately 20–23% in 2026. [III] The city will also further develop its charging infrastructure to improve efficiency and enhance the capacity and connectivity of the electric bus system.

3. Since the beginning of 2025, Hanoi has added six new electric bus routes with 97 vehicles. [IV] As a result of this expansion, electric routes now total 16 out of 128, and the fleet of electric buses has grown to 246. According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, by the end of June, the city had 8,831 electric taxis, representing 47.4% of all taxis in operation. As of July 8, Hanoi had also established 118 public bike-sharing stations within Ring Road 3, providing 1,100 bicycles, including 100 electric-assisted bikes. This bike-sharing service operates continuously, 24 hours a day.

4. Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Construction, Dao Viet Long, noted that Hanoi will introduce new policies to promote the transition to green transportation. These measures will encompass direct financial support and indirect incentives through adjusted fees and charges. The city also plans to adopt new public transport solutions to better meet residents' mobility needs and limit reliance on motorbikes. Additionally, Hanoi is considering improved integration among different transport modes to enhance overall efficiency and connectivity.
